Line graph showing overall declining cases of Hib disease from 838 cases in 1990 to 12 cases in 2014. A sharp decrease in cases followed the introduction of the Hib vaccine in 1992, with fewer than 80 cases by 1994. Beginning in 1999, a slight increase in cases occurred, peaking between 2002-2003 with ~240 cases per year. A Hib vaccine catch up campaign was introduced in 2003, with cases continuing to gradually decline thereafter including with the introduction of a Hib booster in 2006.
